About Me
I've been practicing yoga for more than 25 years. I began my practice as a theater student at FAU as a way of preparing myself for singing and performing in front of audiences. The goal was to calm and center myself, to block out what was going on around me externally and focus inward. Years later, as a way of dealing with the stresses of life (which we can all struggle with at times), I turned to yoga because I needed those same qualities off stage; to be able to calm myself and connect back to my inner voice, my inner strength. Simultaneously, my outer strength grew as well and I regained balance and flexibility I had once lost. Yoga has become an invaluable tool for me, so meaningful to my life, it brings me immense pleasure to be able to share it with those who are ready to explore their inner world. I love teaching both beginner and advanced students alike!
As a professional opera singer for 15+ years, I have learned to create as much resonance and vibration as possible using breath and voice. These vibrations, which we can create within ourselves (through singing or repeating mantra) can have profound effects on our mental/emotional state and on our physical well being. During our session we can chant the powerful "OM" together, creating vibrations in the body and freeing our inner and our outer voice; after which you can relax while I sing for you and play instruments designed to bring you into a relaxed and centered state of being.

I have brought together my love for yoga, music, and introspection with my desire to be of service. I've had some incredible experiences in sound baths, profound insights through yoga, and derived so much joy from singing. I hope to be a conduit for similar experiences for you.

Wishing you good health and good vibes,
Darren

Why a Sound Bath
Since the early days of human existence, music has been used to soothe and connect to spirit. Music communicates to our emotions without words. It's primal.
Sound is actually waves of vibration which moves through space and water. Because our bodies are made of approximately 70% water, acoustic vibrations penetrate to our deepest layers. The instruments used in a Sound Bath bring harmony to the body and mind. Our cellular structures can become disorganized for reasons varying from disease to stored trauma to everyday stress. While you lay reclined and relaxed, the body has the opportunity to let go of these stresses and reorganize at a cellular level.

Music can heal the wounds which medicine cannot touch.

The Science Behind Sound Healing
Sound healing, or sound therapy, utilizes various elements of sound to enhance both emotional and physical well-being in individuals. Originating from ancient cultures, this practice has garnered scientific acknowledgment and is now integrated into modern wellness approaches.
The underlying principle of sound healing is based on the idea that illnesses manifest when the body is "out of tune" or experiences energy blockages. The objective is to reestablish the body's natural resonance and return it to a state of health and harmony. Although the details can vary widely, sound healing therapies typically encompass exposure to sound waves at particular frequencies, harnessing their rhythmic patterns, tonalities, and vibrational properties to encourage healing and overall well-being.

Cymatics: The study of visible sound and vibration.
Cymatics vividly shows the impact of sound on the structure of matter and molecules.
Take into account that the human body comprises approximately 70% water, making it an outstanding conductor of sound.
Considering water's effective conductivity for sound, envision the influence of sound on your internal processes and its potential to help transform dissonance (dis-ease) into patterns resembling a natural state of coherence. This phenomenon is illustrated in the cymatic patterns captured in these images:
